Baseball Recap: Wasatch Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Wasatch proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Springville Red Devils 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wasps have posted against the Red Devils since April 26, 2022.

Braxton Faller made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Brown, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Wasatch's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Kyren Stocking was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Wasatch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Wasatch's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. As for Springville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Wasatch will have a chance to go back-to-back against Springville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
