Basketball Recap: Gunn Comes Up Short

Gunn lost against Mountain View back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gunn Titans came up short against the Mountain View Spartans, falling 71-47. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 747th, while the Spartans are ranked 350th).

Mountain View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Feller, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 22 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Feller has been hot, having posted four or more blocks the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Minor, who went 6 for 12 en route to 15 points and five steals.

Gunn has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Mountain View, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Coincidentally, Gunn and Mountain View will both be playing Milpitas the next time they take the court. Mountain View will head out to face Milpitas at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Gunn will host them at 7:45 p.m. on January 31st.
