The Petal Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Purvis Tornadoes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Petal's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Pearl 10-0. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Cooper Giger looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Tanner Beliveau was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. Fischer Howell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Petal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .429 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Purvis). They were the clear victors by a 21-6 margin over Lawrence County on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.
Kade Lawler looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Walker, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Parker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Petal pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Purvis, their record is now 18-5.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Petal has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Purvis struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
