Baseball Game Preview: Scripps Ranch Falcons vs. El Capitan Vaqueros

The Scripps Ranch Falcons will challenge the El Capitan Vaqueros at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scripps Ranch has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 17.

Scripps Ranch came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mt. Carmel by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since May 8, 2024.

Cooper Sitton was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, El Capitan was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Maranatha Christian 6-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vaqueros as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jay Aschenbrener looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Seth Walker, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

El Capitan's record now sits at 5-6. As for Scripps Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
