Basketball Recap: Putnam City West Comes Up Short

Putnam City West saw some tournament action on Friday. They lost 74-51 to the Crooked Oak Ruf-Nex. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Ruf-Nex are ranked 17th).

Jamel Morris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crooked Oak, putting up 35 points. Those 35 points gave Morris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Garcia, who posted 20 points.

Putnam City West's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Crooked Oak, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.

Putnam City West will square off against Ponca City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Putnam City West is facing Ponca City at the right time seeing as Ponca City is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Crooked Oak, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-44 loss against Deer Creek on the 25th.
