Basketball Recap: Lakewood Find Success

Lakewood won the last time they faced Lower Richland, and Pop Cato did his part to make sure it happened again. The Lakewood Gators came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets on Friday, sneaking past 46-44 thanks in part to Cato, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in December of 2023.

The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Mcbride, who scored four points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played.

Lakewood's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Lower Richland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakewood will welcome Wilson at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Wilson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for Lower Richland, they will host South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
