Union Colony Prep couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Windsor Charter Academy, falling 65-25. Union Colony Prep was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-13.
Despite the defeat, Union Colony Prep saw an underclassman step up: Soliana Gebremskel scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
Even though they lost, Union Colony Prep were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windsor Charter Academy only pulled down 23.
Meanwhile, Lone Star didn't have too much trouble with Peetz on the road on Tuesday as they won 62-45. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lone Star.
Lone Star's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aimee Trejo, who scored 16 points. Aleighcea Kuntz was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Union Colony Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lone Star, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Union Colony Prep came up short against Lone Star in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 38-25. Can Union Colony Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
