Baseball Game Preview: Strathmore Spartans vs. Corcoran Panthers

Strathmore hasn't had much luck against Corcoran recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the Panthers at 4:00 p.m.

Strathmore saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They fell 9-6 to Mendota.

Meanwhile, Corcoran had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Horned Toads get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cortez Portillo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Elijah Muthana was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Corcoran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February.

Strathmore's loss dropped their record down to 5-11-1. As for Corcoran, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.

Strathmore might still be hurting after the 17-8 defeat they got from Corcoran in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
