Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Lake Catholic

Lake Catholic had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 69-57 win over the Trinity Trojans. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 70-66 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lake Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Frankie Trinetti led the charge by going 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to six boards and six steals. With that strong performance, Trinetti is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Peterlin, who posted 20 points and five assists.

Lake Catholic's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Trinity, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Catholic and Kenston will round out the year against one another at at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Trinity, they will challenge Revere at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
