Volleyball Recap: Benton Central Bison vs. Harrison Raiders

If Benton Central was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Tri-County on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bison fell 3-1 to the Harrison Raiders on Tuesday. The Bison were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Benton Central had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Benton Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bella Widmer, who had 19 digs and four aces. Isabelle Adams was another key player, getting 23 assists and five digs.

Leading Harrison to victory were Kaylee Swihart and Della Bossung. Swihart had 11 digs and five assists, while Bossung had 11 kills, seven aces, and six digs. That's the most kills Bossung has posted since back in October of 2024.

Benton Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Harrison, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Benton Central will head out on the road to take on Hamilton Southeastern at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Royals will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bison surely won't give up without a fight. As for Harrison, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Lafayette Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
