Football Recap: North Starts off Right with Win over Summit Academy

North took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 28-16 victory over the Summit Academy Bears. The Saxons pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaydan Andrade out in front who rushed for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 103 rushing yards gave Andrade a new career-high. Kchole Mataele-Juarez was in the mix too, providing North with two scores.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something North proved: they limited Summit Academy to a paltry -2.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Koa Moran for the heroic effort on defense: he. North's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.9.

North's defense didn't let Preston MacKowiak., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Andrade, Anthony MacIas, and Ricardo Gonzalez, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Despite the loss, Summit Academy still got an impressive performance from Beau Edmunds, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two TDs.

Summit Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 52-0 victory against Westchester on the 28th. As for Summit Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-0 loss against Timpanogos on the 29th.
