Soccer Game Preview: East Burke vs. Maiden

East Burke is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will challenge the Maiden Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

East Burke took a four-goal loss the last time they faced off against McDowell, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. East Burke had just enough and edged out McDowell 1-0 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Genesiss Lopez-Escobar, which was the first she's scored this season.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Maiden was forced to settle for a draw. They and Alexander Central finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Thursday.

East Burke's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. With that draw, Maiden's record moves to 2-3-1.

East Burke couldn't quite get it done against Maiden when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can East Burke avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
