Baseball Recap: Maranatha Christian Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maranatha Christian). They had just enough and edged out the Bishop's Knights 8-7. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Knights last Monday, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

Nolan Espinosa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Espinosa was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Holton Heinrichs was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Evan Wied also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Maranatha Christian's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-15. As for Bishop's, their record now sits at 9-5-1.

Maranatha Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
