Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Pace

Pace extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping them up to 5-0. They skirted past the Gulf Shores Dolphins 2-0. The Patriots' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

The result came thanks to Hannah DeMarcus's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Gracie Ueberroth was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Laila Loomis also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

As for Gulf Shores, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6. The game marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Gulf Shores' side, Anna Leigh Price spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, Price is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

Pace has already played their next matchup, an 11-0 victory against North Bay Haven Academy on the 6th. As for Gulf Shores, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Fairhope on the 5th.
