Basketball Recap: Melissa Cardinals vs. Walnut Grove Wildcats
If Melissa was feeling good fresh off their 62-39 takedown of McKinney North last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Melissa Cardinals took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Walnut Grove Wildcats on Tuesday. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 59-46.
Walnut Grove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Evanson out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Evanson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Byron Scott, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points and five assists.
Melissa's loss dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Walnut Grove, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 25-9.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Melissa Cardinals take on the Greenville Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Walnut Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Denison at 7:00 p.m. Walnut Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
