Basketball Game Preview: Portales Rams vs. Deming Wildcats

The Portales Rams will challenge the Deming Wildcats at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday. Portales will be strutting in after a victory while Deming will be coming in after a defeat.

Portales had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on Los Alamos with a sharp 88-63 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Hilltoppers: they've now won three in a row.

Portales' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Pierce Culpepper, who went 12-for-15 to rack up 24 points and three blocks. Jacoby Bamforth was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 17 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Meanwhile, Deming was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-38 heartbreaker at the hands of Goddard.
