Basketball Recap: Mark Caslaru Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Rock Hill

Catawba Ridge won the last time they faced Rock Hill and things went their way on Friday too. The Catawba Ridge Copperheads snuck past the Rock Hill Bearcats with a 56-50 victory.

Catawba Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mark Caslaru led the charge by putting up ten points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. Caslaru is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 17 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Heffner, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Rock Hill lost, don't look at Kyriq Dickens. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Deionne Robertson, who put up three points and five rebounds.

Catawba Ridge's record is now 9-10. As for Rock Hill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catawba Ridge will host Clover at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Clover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season. As for Rock Hill, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Rock Hill Bearcats take on the Blacksburg Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
