High school football rankings: Duncanville climbs to No. 5 in MaxPreps Top 25 after 56-28 win over DeSoto

Kendrick Blackshire, Panthers face Quinn Ewers, No. 21 Southlake Carroll in Texas 6A Division 1 semifinals.

Duncanville moved up two spots to No. 5 in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings after a dominant 56-28 win over previously-ranked DeSoto in the Texas Class 6A Division 1 quarterfinals. Grayson James completed 22 of 28 passes for a season high 471 yards and three touchdowns for the Panthers. Roderick Daniels hauled in eight receptions for 267 yards and two scores.

Quinn Ewers and No. 21 Southlake Carroll are up next for Duncanville in the semifinal round.

The Ohio State-bound Ewers was 35 of 39 passing for 450 yards and six touchdowns in a 59-35 win over Trinity (Euless). Brady Boyd was his favorite target, finishing the day with 17 receptions for 261 yards and four scores.

No. 2 North Shore (Houston) takes on No. 10 Westlake (Austin) in the other 6A Division 1 semifinal.



The Mustangs extended their win streak to 29 with a 56-14 victory over Ridge Point (Missouri City) as Dematrius Davis accounted for five total touchdowns, giving him 58 (37 passing, 21 rushing) this season.

Westlake won its 22nd straight after shutting out Steele (Cibolo) 34-0. The Chaparrals have outscored the opposition 661-51 this year.

No. 3 Grayson (Loganville) capped a perfect season with a 38-14 thumping of Collins Hill (Suwanee) in the Georgia AAAAAAA championship. Jake Garcia threw for two scores and Jayvian Allen rushed for three touchdowns while adding an interception as the Rams won their first state title since 2016.

Two new teams joined this week's rankings after DeSoto and Highland Park (Dallas) dropped out.

Oakland (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) climbs in at No. 24 after going 15-0 to claim the Tennessee Division 1 Class 6A championship. The Patriots outscored opponents 592-156, winning every game by double digits.

St. Thomas More (Lafayette) is also in after winning its second consecutive Louisiana Division II championship. Junior quarterback Walker Howard, a LSU commit, threw for 381 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-28 win over De La Salle (New Orleans). Jack Bech hauled in 10 receptions for 232 yards and two scores.
