Baseball Game Preview: West Carter Comets vs. Rowan County Vikings

West Carter hasn't had much luck against Rowan County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Comets will look to defend their home field against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. West Carter has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Carter managed to slip by St. Joseph Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Comets lost 13-3 to the Irish on Friday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rowan County). They put the hurt on Menifee County with a sharp 24-3 victory on Monday. Considering the Vikings have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Eli Miller was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grant Rose, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Rowan County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Rowan County and bumps their season record up to 13-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for West Carter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

West Carter couldn't quite get it done against Rowan County in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 17-14. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
