Basketball Recap: Hearts Academy Comes Up Short

If Hearts Academy was feeling good fresh off their 61-39 takedown of Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hearts Academy Panthers were outmatched by the Notre Dame Academy Irish Wolfhounds and fell 89-42. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-23.

Ki?Andrey Thomas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Notre Dame Academy, going 11 for 26 en route to 30 points along with eight steals and five assists. Thomas' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Charles Buford was another key player, dropping a triple-double on 11 points, ten boards, and ten assists.

The defeat snapped Hearts Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-11 record. As for Notre Dame Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

While Hearts Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
