Preview: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. La Salle Academy Rams
Woonsocket has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the La Salle Academy Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Monday, Woonsocket was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-57 to Central.
Angel Hernandez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juelz Stengel, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, La Salle Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They came out on top against Bishop Hendricken by a score of 61-51.
Woonsocket's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for La Salle Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Woonsocket might still be hurting after the 71-48 loss they got from La Salle Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Woonsocket avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
