Baseball Recap: Mt. Vernon Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Mt. Vernon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tecumseh, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Wildcats blew past the Braves 7-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Braves since April 13, 2015.

The team relied heavily on Graeson Lyons, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Bryce Bourne was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Mt. Vernon's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Tecumseh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will welcome Southridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Tecumseh, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Evansville Reitz at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
