Baseball Recap: Central Cabarrus Triumphs

Central Cabarrus lost to Mount Pleasant back in March of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Kit Stafford got the start for Central Cabarrus and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Stafford also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Vikings are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Andre Vaughn picked up the save, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Central Cabarrus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryley Holtzen, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. Another was Connor Dowd, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Central Cabarrus' record now sits at 9-6. As for Mount Pleasant, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-8 record.

Looking ahead, Central Cabarrus is taking a road trip to take on Concord at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mount Pleasant, they will venture away from home to challenge Community School of Davidson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
