Softball Game Preview: Isabella Mustangs vs. Verbena Red Devils

The Isabella Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Verbena Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Isabella has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Isabella fell victim to Maplesville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 11-0 to the Red Devils. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Verbena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Autauga Academy.

Isabella now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Verbena, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Isabella came out on top in a nail-biter against Verbena in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 13-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
