Basketball Recap: Dietrich Takes Down Coeur Du Christ Academy in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dietrich had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Coeur du Christ Academy Saints by a score of 69-56. The win was nothing new for the Blue Devils as they're now sitting on six straight.

Dietrich had a senior duo take command as Brody Torgerson dropped a double-double with 14 points and 19 rebounds and Connor Perkins posted 18 points along with five boards and five steals. Perkins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chase Norman, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 11 points.

Dietrich smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Coeur du Christ Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ben Connelly, who scored 26 points and seven boards. That was a full 46.4% of Coeur du Christ Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row Connelly has earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerome Cools, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Dietrich's victory bumped their record up to 20-3. As for Coeur du Christ Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Dietrich has already played their next contest, a 65-57 win against Garden Valley on the 7th. As for Coeur du Christ Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-57 defeat against Cascade on the 7th.
