Soccer Game Preview: Reed-Custer vs. Bishop McNamara

The Reed-Custer Comets will head out on the road to take on the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Reed-Custer knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Bishop McNamara likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Reed-Custer got the win against Streator/Woodland by a conclusive 5-2. It was an even better day for Hailey Compton as she scored three goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Bishop McNamara fell victim to Manteno and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 5-0.

Reed-Custer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those five matchups. As for Bishop McNamara, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-1.

Reed-Custer came out on top in a nail-biter against Bishop McNamara in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
