Softball Recap: Oak Park Wins Going Away Against West Ranch

Oak Park had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt West Ranch on Saturday. Oak Park put the hurt on West Ranch with a sharp 11-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Erika Samuels spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Sophia Casella was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Sailor Platt was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

The win got Oak Park back to even at 6-6. As for West Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Oak Park wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Notre Dame (SO) on the 24th. As for West Ranch, they will square off against Valencia at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Valencia's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so West Ranch's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
