Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview Vikings vs. Clarkson/Leigh Patriots

Lakeview is on a three-game streak of home losses, Clarkson/Leigh a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. Both will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Lakeview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-43 to Wayne. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Blue Devils are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Clarkson/Leigh played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Battle Creek 77-35. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

Lakeview will have to keep a close watch on Kyle McMullin and Korbin Lemburg, a pair of players who had a big impact on Clarkson/Leigh's prior game. McMullin posted eight points, while Lemburg earned nine points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Lemburg a new career-high.

Clarkson/Leigh's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lakeview, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Lakeview beat Clarkson/Leigh 54-43 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Will Lakeview repeat their success, or does Clarkson/Leigh have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
