Basketball Game Preview: Athens Hornets vs. Brownsboro Bears

Athens hasn't had much luck against Brownsboro recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Athens Hornets will square off against the Brownsboro Bears at 6:00 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Athens is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Kemp: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Athens blew Kemp out of the water with a 65-18 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Hornets had established a 31 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Brownsboro had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They breezed by the Yellowjackets to the tune of 50-22. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

The victory got Athens back to even at 13-13. As for Brownsboro, their win bumped their record up to 19-11.

Athens took a serious blow against Brownsboro when the teams last played on January 7th, falling 61-20. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Athens was down 33-12.
