Baseball Recap: Wartburg Central Bulldogs vs. Midway Green Wave
After flying high against Maryville Christian last Friday, Wartburg Central came back down to earth. The Wartburg Central Bulldogs took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midway Green Wave on Friday. Wartburg Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Midway apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
For Midway's part, they got a great performance from Rowan McClure as he didn't allow a single hit, only one earned run while striking out 12 over 5.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Travis Shaw was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Wartburg Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Midway, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Wartburg Central will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Oakdale at 6:00 p.m. As for Midway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rockwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
