Volleyball Recap: Ripley Falls Short Against Ranked Winfield

Ripley faced Winfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Vikings fell 2-0 to the Generals. The Vikings have struggled against the Generals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

The final score came out to 25-19, 25-14.

Ripley's offense was headlined by Tiffany Fisher and Braylinn Lutz, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Kaydence Sheppard and her eight assists. Addison Howery controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Winfield was led to victory by Macee Shock and Rubie Kauffman. Shock had three digs and three aces, while Kauffman had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces Shock has posted over her last nine matches.

Ripley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Winfield, their victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4-2.

Coincidentally, Ripley and Winfield will both be playing St. Joseph Central the next time they take the court. The Vikings will head out to face the Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Generals will play them later in the day, at 8:30 p.m.
