Softball Recap: El Paso-Gridley Drops Highest Score of Season Against Herscher

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Paso-Gridley). They had just enough and edged out the Herscher Tigers 21-20. The high-scoring effort was just what the Titans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

El Paso-Gridley got a massive performance out of Tori Seggerman, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Seggerman a new career-high. Sloan Gentes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

El Paso-Gridley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .589. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped El Paso-Gridley's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 4-14 record. As for Herscher, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

El Paso-Gridley will take on Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans are facing the Minutemen at the right time seeing as the Minutemen are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Herscher, they will face off against Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
