Softball Recap: Woodlawn Has No Trouble Against Wayne City

Woodlawn won the last time they faced Wayne City and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Indians. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Rylee Pryor made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Pryor was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Zaylee Kirkpatrick was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Hanley Lamacchia, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Woodlawn lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The victory got Woodlawn back to even at 3-3. As for Wayne City, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Woodlawn will head out to face off against Webber at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. As for Wayne City, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Grayville at 4:30 p.m. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
