Baseball Game Preview: Stanwood Spartans vs. Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks

For the second straight game, Stanwood will face off against Marysville-Pilchuck. Stanwood will be playing at home against Marysville-Pilchuck at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stanwood has four straight wins, Marysville-Pilchuck has 14 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Stanwood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Marysville-Pilchuck, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. Stanwood never let Marysville-Pilchuck get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Friday. The contest marked the Spartans' most dominant win of the season so far.

Gavin Morrow looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Corban Forslund, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Jaxson Beard was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Stanwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Marysville-Pilchuck's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Stanwood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
