Baseball Recap: Southwest Edgecombe Extends Winning Streak to Four

SouthWest Edgecombe extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Seaforth. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks 4-3. That's two games straight that the Cougars have won by just one run.

Parker Gay made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Gay wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Derrick Davis, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI Davis has posted since back in May of 2024.

The win (which was SouthWest Edgecombe's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-7. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Seaforth, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-8.

As of now, neither SouthWest Edgecombe nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
