Basketball Game Preview: Big Walnut Golden Eagles vs. Westland Cougars

The Big Walnut Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Westland Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Big Walnut duked it out with Bishop Hartley on Saturday. Big Walnut fell 63-51 to Bishop Hartley. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Westland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Hayes and fell 89-45. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-23.

Big Walnut will need to focus on slowing down Breaker Heller Jr., one of several Westland players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points along with six assists and three steals. Heller Jr. has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Funderburke, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points.

Big Walnut's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Westland, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Big Walnut couldn't quite finish off Westland in their previous meeting back in January and fell 58-56. Can Big Walnut avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
