Volleyball Recap: Claymont Mustangs vs. Indian Valley Braves

Claymont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Indian Valley Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.

Claymont was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-18.

Lilly Riker paced Claymont's offense, picking up ten kills. Riker got some help from Jilli Poletti and her 12 assists. Elah Davis controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Indian Valley was led to victory by Gionna Miles and Zoey Braun. Miles had 24 digs and two aces, while Braun had 12 digs and one assist. Miles is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 16 games she's played.

Claymont now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Indian Valley, with the victory, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 10-7.

Claymont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Central Christian on the 29th. As for Indian Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hiland at 7:00 p.m.
