Basketball Game Preview: Denmark-Olar Vikings vs. Royal Live Oaks Academy Royal Knights

The Denmark-Olar Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Royal Live Oaks Academy Royal Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Denmark-Olar has six straight victories, Royal Live Oaks Academy has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Denmark-Olar strolled past Allendale-Fairfax with points to spare, taking the game 59-44. The Vikings pushed the score to 49-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Denmark-Olar got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Bovain out in front who went 7 for 10 on his way to 15 points and eight boards. Bovain is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Joshua Goodman was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Denmark-Olar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 41 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Royal Live Oaks Academy ended up a good deal behind Ridgeland on Friday and lost 54-35.

Denmark-Olar has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Royal Live Oaks Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Denmark-Olar against Royal Live Oaks Academy in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured an 80-23 victory. In that contest, Denmark-Olar amassed a halftime lead of 40-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
