Softball Game Preview: Smith Valley Bulldogs vs. Carlin Railroaders

The Smith Valley Bulldogs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Carlin Railroaders at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Smith Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Smith Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 23-15 to Virginia City back in March. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in March (ten), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Carlin got the win against Eureka on Tuesday by a conclusive 34-21. Considering the Railroaders have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlin got a massive performance out of Adian Adams, who got on base in all seven of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. Those five stolen bases gave Adams a new career-high. Mariah Ramirez was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing four bases while going 5-for-8.

Carlin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .553 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Smith Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Carlin, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
