Recap: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. Topsail Pirates
The Ashley Screaming Eagle fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They were the clear victor by a 30-6 margin over Topsail. The result was nothing new for Ashley, who have now won four matches by 24 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ashley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyler Carter, who threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Michelangelo, who picked up 88 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Ashley's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Topsail, South Brunswick, and West Brunswick. As for Topsail, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
Ashley will square off against North Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (North Brunswick is ranked 114th, while Ashley is ranked 123rd). As for Topsail, they will be playing at home against Laney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Laney's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four games.
