Baseball Recap: Beverly Takes a Loss

Beverly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 8-4 to the Tanners when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Brayden Haley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Beverly saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Connolly, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Ted Fisher also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Beverly's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Beverly will be playing in front of their home fans against Andover at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. The Golden Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-4 defeat against Danvers on the 24th.
