Basketball Recap: Taos Comes Up Short

Taos lost against Robertson two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Taos Tigers received a blow as they fell 63-46 to the Robertson Cardinals. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leading Robertson to victory were George Smith and Nathan Gonzales. Smith went 7 for 9 on his way to 23 points and three steals, while Gonzales went 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. The contest was Smith's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Gonzales, who posted three points and four steals.

Taos' defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Robertson, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Taos won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Valencia at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Robertson, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Belen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Robertson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matches -- so hopefully Belen likes a good challenge.
