Glenbard East hasn't had much luck against Glenbard West recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rams will host the Hilltoppers at 10:00 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Glenbard East will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Batavia on Friday. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Lorelai May spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lilly Carver was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Jaras, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Glenbard East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenbard West). They never let Proviso West get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Hilltoppers, who have now won four contests in a row.
Ellie Adduci was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Adduci was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Glenbard West got a massive performance out of Cece Atkinson, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Atkinson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Megan Stieglitz, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Glenbard East's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Glenbard West, their win bumped their record up to an identical 16-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glenbard East hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Glenbard West struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
