Baseball Recap: Christ the King Extends Winning Streak to Five

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Christ the King walked away with it. They blew past the Polk County Wolverines 10-0 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Crusaders sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Owen Shipman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Shipman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Patrick Walsh, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jamison Ehret, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Christ the King was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive games.

Christ the King pushed their record up to 16-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Polk County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.

Coming up, Christ the King will take on Draughn on Tuesday. Polk County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
