Recap: Phoenix Spartans vs. South Plaquemines Hurricanes

Even though the South Plaquemines Hurricanes scored an imposing 71 points on Saturday, the Phoenix Spartans still came out on top. Phoenix had just enough and edged South Plaquemines out 73-71. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Phoenix also won the last time the pair played back in January.

South Plaquemines' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Byrsten Prout, who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. Jovita Lightell was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Phoenix now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Plaquemines, the last time they won on the road was back on Tuesday. Having now lost three straight away matches, they've bumped their record down to 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix will challenge Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Plaquemines, they will head out on the road to face off against E.D. White at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
