Preview: Curtis Baptist Crusaders vs. Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders
The Curtis Baptist Crusaders will head out on the road to take on the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Curtis Baptist has three straight wins, Jefferson Davis Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Curtis Baptist earned a 52-39 victory over Cambridge Academy.
Curtis Baptist found their leader in underclassman Maci Butler, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Butler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nyla Robinson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
While Jefferson Davis Academy couldn't quite beat Holly Hill Academy two weeks ago, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 41-point defeat they were dealt back in December of 2023. Jefferson Davis Academy fell just short of Holly Hill Academy by a score of 38-36.
Curtis Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.
