Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Golden Bears vs. Pell City Panthers

The Lincoln Golden Bears will head out to take on the Pell City Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Lincoln was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Leeds 5-4. The game was the first time the Golden Bears have beaten the Greenwave on their field since March 29, 2021.

Aubrey Machen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Amrie Wells also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Pell City faced Chelsea in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Pell City came out on top in a nail-biter against Chelsea, sneaking past 3-2.

Pell City's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Briley Goodgame, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Jenna Lewis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season. Pell City's record is now 13-7.

Lincoln might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Pell City when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
