Baseball Recap: Penfield Comes Up Short

Penfield came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-5 to the Fairport Red Raiders. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Red Raiders earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Ethan Light made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brady Beganny, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Penfield now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Fairport, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Penfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Hilton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Fairport will challenge rival Victor at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Raiders 2.8, the Blue Devils 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
