Baseball Recap: Warren Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Warren ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the East Chambers Buccaneers 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Buccaneers last Monday, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Parker Brocato and Levi Ledbetter made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Brocato struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Ledbetter pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those 17 strikeouts gave Brocato a new career-high. At bat, Brocato scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Ledbetter scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kolbyn Bennett, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Another was Easton Evans, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

The victory got Warren back to even at 9-9. As for East Chambers, they dropped their record down to 10-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Warren will take on Kirbyville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren's pitchers better be ready for this one: Kirbyville has averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for East Chambers, they will square off against Hardin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hardin's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so East Chambers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
