Volleyball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

Southwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Cassville Wildcats. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-14, 22-25, 25-11.

Marissa Freeman paced Southwest's offense, picking up 13 kills. Freeman got some help from Emma Outhouse and her ten assists. Outhouse also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Emily Brooks, each putting up two.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for Cassville, their win ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 9-13-2.

Southwest has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Wheaton on the 2nd. As for Cassville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Monett on the 30th.
